Chinese Jiu-jitsu?

This is not weapon related...but I did come across some interesting photos of old Chinese Chin Na(jointlock) techniques. These photos were taken circa 1900.

The photo on the left looks like a standing Guillotine choke, and the right photo is definitely an arm triangle choke!
The top photo strangely resembles that of the De LaRiva Guard, which is a pretty modern guard form. The bottom photo looks like he could be sitting into a heel hook or spinning into a knee bar! The Right photo is a full mount with both wrists manipulated, perfect setup to an arm bar or worse.
Wow, bunch of nasty nasty arm bars! An inverted, a judo side arm bar, a regular arm bar. And, gasp, double wrist control from the closed guard a la the Nogueira brothers!! And finally a keylock from side mount.

These are pretty wicked, its amazing how much resemblance there are between the various grappling arts. I guess there can be only so many ways to manipulated human joints, and different cultures came up with similar ways to exploit these design flaws of the human body.

Or it could also be that traveling martial arts brought their arts to different parts of the world, just like how jiu-jitsu was introduced to the Gracies.

But what do I know, I am just a white belt.
